Stillness & Beauty

swamp rose-mallow

Hibiscus moscheutos

When life gets uncomfortable and we're using our best efforts to navigate through the heaviness, I'm reminded of other living things that need what I need - space to grow, the right temperature, light, water, air, nutrients, and time. In all of its beauty and stillness, this flower is "living its best life". At this moment, it knows nothing else but to be beautiful and brilliant. It's in the right environment to thrive. I think a lot about life and my journey. What is the perfect balance to obtain happiness? How does one stay in the light, when we know darkness will come? Is it possible that there is no true balance? I have no answers to these questions, just thoughts. One thing that I try to focus on, and I mean really hone in on...is joy. It's something that I can feel, see, and sometimes even touch. When I get distracted with "all of the things", this picture is a reminder that slow living and simplicity can also offer an ideal life. - day
